What's New At AIMS
System Passwords Are Now Available 24 / 7
System passwords for AIMS are now available on our website. This means that anyone
requiring a password can obtain it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In case you did not
know, a system passwords is required whenever you download and install a new release of
AIMS. Only customers with a current software maintenance contract and an account in good
standing will receive a new password.
 When you run AIMS for the first time after a new
release has been installed, the system password screen is displayed. Your account code and
authorization code are right on the screen for your reference. If you are already
connected to the Internet, you can click on the system password link right from AIMS and
go directly to the password page on our website. Otherwise, follow your normal
procedures to connect to our website, www.aimshotline.com
and click on the link for "AIMS System Passwords".
 Once you are on the website password
screen, enter your company's account code and authorization code in the appropriate boxes
and click the [Get AIMS Password] button. Then type the password into AIMS.
For your reference, both your account code and authorization code are on the About AIMS
screen from the Help menu.
Send your Data To Tech Support With The New FTP Program
I can’t begin to tell you that amount of time that is often wasted when a customer
calls tech support to report a problem, and after listening to the information provided,
we are unable to reproduce the problem. If I told you it happened a thousand times,
that would probably be an understatement.
Sometimes we can use a program like pcAnywhere to connect directly to your system
either by modem or over the Internet. However, even when that is possible, very
often, the best we can do is verify that the error does indeed occur. It is very difficult
for us to work on solving the problem while we are online to the customer’s computer
for several reasons. First, it is often inconvenient for the customer to provide us
with stand-alone access to the system because others are using AIMS to do their work.
Second, we cannot do programming on the customer’s computer. We must do that at our
location.
The most efficient way for us to resolve problems like this is when we have a copy of
your data at our location. That enables us to work independently, without interrupting you
while we investigate the problem and provide a solution.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a way to send files over the Internet. We have
added the ability for AIMS to use FTP to send a copy of your backup directly to our
office, right from the AIMS program. After you run the backup, just click on the
"Send" button. Of course, you must have an open Internet connection for this to
work.
We already have had numerous success stories with customers who reported a problem that
we could not reproduce. Once we got a copy of their data, we had the problem
resolved within a few hours. In one case it was only a few minutes. This is a
powerful new tool that makes it possible for us to provide unparalleled support. We
have done all we can to make it easy for any customer to get their data to us without the
need for in-depth knowledge of how to send information between computers. All you
have to do is have a connection to the Internet.
Please take advantage of this new option so we can help resolve your problems in record
time. That’s why we made it part of AIMS.
New Multi-part Forms For Dot Matrix Printers
Included in the latest release are new forms for printing multi-part invoices and
picking tickets on dot matrix printers. These forms have been redesigned to
accommodate the longer style and color codes as well as more than 8 sizes.
If you are interested in transitioning to these forms, please call Ralph Davis at
Continuous Forms Control, 800-376-1176. Ralph will work out a program where you can
use your existing forms and have a supply of the new forms already printed to your
specifications just before you run out of the old forms.
For the record, CFC has been designing and supplying forms to AIMS customers for almost
15 years. They also offer many other products and services including forms inventory
control, tags, labels and more.
