A crowd of 250 sampled treats prepared by the Tiara Café and sipped a variety of Wente Vinyards’ select wines. Wente is the oldest family-owned and- operated vineyard in California. The combination of wine and fashion has been a hit for FBI, which in the past has hosted wine tastings to benefit its efforts to support small local brands. Designer and former “Project Runway” contestant Andrae Gonzalo was on hand for the festivities and approved the mix of wine and fashion. “I think wine raises the bar,” he laughed. “In L.A., it is hard to get people to dress up, but introduce wine into the mix, and suddenly everyone gets a bit more formal. There’s not a lot of denim. We’re classing it up tonight.” All six brands featured on the funway hailed from Los Angeles and were produced in the city, said Frances Harder, FBI’s executive director. “We wanted to highlight the importance of the Los Angeles fashion industry. We’re truly a global trendsetter, and there is so much great product coming out of here,” Harder said. Stop Staring!, Sledge USA, Vanessa Carreno, Remy Leather, Couture The Clothing Company, Ranahan Jeans and Pink Polka Dot showed their designs on the runway.
